PICTURE PERFECT LOUISIANA |
|
How does Civil Engineering touch your daily life?
Each American household uses an average of 94,000 gallons of water per year.
About two million people in Louisiana live behind elaborate levee systems.
According to LA DOTD, there are 13,248 bridges on public roads in Louisiana including the new Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge
Indeed it does, and if you have pictures to illustrate it, you might just have a “Picture Perfect Louisiana”.

The Younger Member Chairs from the Louisiana Section, Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Shreveport Branches of the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) are sponsoring a statewide photo contest as a part of their public outreach campaign to raise the profile of their profession and attract students into this exciting and challenging career. High school and college students in Louisiana are encouraged to submit amateur photos that depict positive images of civil engineering throughout our state, such as the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Lake Pontchartrain Causeway, the Horace Wilkinson Bridge/New Mississippi River Bridge in Baton Rouge, and others. |
|
Twelve winning photographs will be chosen and the photographer of each will win $100, as well as having their photographs distributed to civil engineers throughout the state in a full color calendar, which will be sold to benefit the student chapters and younger member activities. Entrants can submit up to three digital pictures. Click here for contest rules.
For more information, contact the ASCE Younger Member representative closest to you: Shreveport/Monroe/North Louisiana, Elba Hamilton; New Orleans/South Louisiana, Jonathan Hobbs; Baton Rouge/Central Louisiana, Geoff Wilson, Adam Smith or Yvette Weatherton. |
