Learning Style Considerations

1. Are you self-disciplined?

2. Do you often construct "to-do" or priority lists? How closely do you adhere to the lists?

3. Are you an efficient time manager?

4. Can you successfully understand content that is text-intensive?

5. Do you need immediate feedback from instructors? Can you assess your progress in a course?

Assessing Your Responses for Learning Style Considerations

Online learning requires you to be your own time manager. Traditional face-to-face courses are scheduled with day, time, and room assignments. Online courses have no such assignments. Students must "schedule" the days, times, and rooms for their online courses. Additionally, content delivery in traditional face-to-face courses is, primarily, via lecture. Students and instructors are placed in the same room at the same time. This not only provides for lecture content delivery, but also it provides for immediate feedback to students' questions. Content delivery in online courses is, primarily, via text, and instructor feedback is not immediate.

If you cannot answer the above questions in the affirmative, you may find that online learning will not satisfy your learning style.
