URGENT MEDIA ALERT Southern University officials close campus in preparation for Hurricane Katrina As a precautionary measure in preparing for Hurricane Katrina classes and offices at Southern University will be closed Monday, August 29. The Southern University Law Center, Agricultural Research and Extension Center and Laboratory School will also be closed. However, essential personnel to include food service, housing, facilities services, physical plant, health services, landscape and custodian staff will be required to report to work SU officials will continue to monitor weather developments and a decision on whether or not the University will reopen on Tuesday will be made accordingly. Students who need housing information can contact the University’s Residential Housing Office located on the second floor of Dunn Hall. The telephone number is 771-3590 or 1-800-432-5899. URGENT MEDIA ADVISORY Southern University officials announce reopening schedule Baton Rouge, La. - Operations at Southern University-Baton Rouge, the Southern University Law Center, and the Southern University Agricultural Research and Extension Center will resume for employees on Wednesday, August 31. Classes will resume on Tuesday, September 6 for students and the Southern University Laboratory School. The New Orleans campus of Southern University remains closed until further notice.
