September 4, 2005 MEDIA ANNOUNCEMENT Southern University operates in a safe and secure environment BATON ROUGE, LA. - Southern University at Baton Rouge wishes to inform the public that the business of the University continues to operate in an orderly and uninterrupted manner. There have been no reported incidents of violence on campus and we continue to operate in a safe and secure environment.
“The University
is pleased to report that it has received hundreds of New Orleans residents
and students displaced by the hurricane. The University is working cooperatively
with the American Red Cross providing shelter, food and medical attention
from the School of Nursing for the displaced individuals. Numerous administrators,
faculty, staff and students have volunteered their services to do whatever
they can to accommodate those individuals who have been sheltered on our
campus,” said Margaret Ambrose, executive vice chancellor. |
