SU football home opener Thursday, Sept. 13

Southern University's home opener against Mississippi Valley State will be Thursday, September 13 in Mumford Stadium. Kick off is at 6:30 p.m. The game will be televised on ESPNU.

For the first time, our freshman class will lead the football team onto the field prior to kickoff begin.

Let's show that Jaguar pride for the nation to see!

Thursday night's home opener is "EBR High School Show Your Colors!" It is sponsored by the East Baton Rouge Parish and Home Alumni Chapters. Spread the word to East Baton Rouge high school students to present their vaild and current student ID at the door for free admission. Southern encourages those high school students who attend to wear their high school colors to the game.

The two schools with the most students in attendance will each earn one $250 scholarship to be awarded to a student of the principal's choosing who is accepted to attend Southern University. The scholarships are courtesy of the EBR and Home Alumni Chapters.

"It's important that the surrounding community knows what a vested interest Southern University holds in ensuring that the areas brightest high school students develop an interest in pursuing a degree at Southern University. We hope to showcase some of the universities finest attractions to high school prospects through our 'EBR Show Your Colors Day' promotion, and we thank the EBR and Home Alumni Federation Chapters for their support of this program," Dr. William Broussard, SU director of athletics.
