Lloyd to be honored at Black History Month concert in Texas

Southern University’s Professor of Music Charles Lloyd, Jr. will be honored, Friday, Feb. 8, at the Huston-Tillotson University and the University of Texas Butler School of Music 7th Annual Black History Month Concert.

 

The event – the Black History Month Collaborative Concert - will be held at 7:30 p.m., at the Bates Recital Hall, 2420 Robert Dedman Drive, at the University of Texas at Austin.

Lloyd, noted for his musical compositions and arrangements, will be conducting two of his choral spiritual arrangements. Students will be performing solo works for voice and piano composed by Lloyd.

The program will feature performances by the Huston-Tillotson Concert Choir, the Prairie View A&M University Concert Chorale and the University of Texas Chamber Singers.

The concert is free and open to the public.
