SU's Darrell Roberson selected for television academy seminar

Southern University's Darrell Roberson, instructor and media engineer in Mass Communication, has been selected as one of 20 faculty fellows for the 25th Annual Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Faculty Seminar.

The seminar will be held November 10-15 in Los Angeles, Ca. for five days of discussions, presentations and interactions with major studios, production companies, networks and their production and programming people.

"My selection as a fellow is an honor for me as well as the university," said Roberson on this opportunity. "It sends the message that the Mass Communication program here at Southern can compete with any program in the nation."

Faculty Fellows were chosen from universities such as the University of Alabama, Temple University, the University of Wisconsin and others.

The Television Academy Foundation's Education Programs offers the fellows opportunities to witness how television entertainment works behind the scenes.

Roberson is excited for what is to be offered and how it "will broaden my understanding of how today's television industry works."

"The people I meet, the opportunity to make contact for students and the knowledge I gain, will be used to enhance student learning. I am grateful to be one of the 20 nationwide chosen by the committee," said Roberson.
