New SGA and Miss Southern excited about new posts

Southern University's new Student Government Association President and Miss Southern University say they are excited about their newly won positions and are ready to represent the Baton Rouge campus.

The new SGA President-elect is Dominque Diamond, a 22-year-old senior Education major from Kentwood.  The Miss SU-elect is JaMya Magee, a 21-year-old senior, social work major from Bogalusa.

Diamond has a history of student leadership roles on the Baton Rouge campus, include Vice President of Men's Federation and working with Collegiate 100 Black Men.

"I was going to graduate this fall, but I thought I could provide some leadership for my university. So I decided to run. Maybe this was set for me," he said.

Magee, who served as Miss Freshman, said she decided to run because she felt she could be another position role model for the university. She said she wants to reach out to students on campus.
