SU School of Nursing Supports Breast Cancer Awareness

SU's School of Nursing gathered together to walk in honor of Faculty Advisor for the Student Nursing Association and Faculty Senate Representative, Kymberly McCoy, today from noon to 1 p.m. in front of J.K. Haynes Hall.

Over 150 people united in rememberance of McCoy , who passed away last summer. Leading the walk was McCoy's husband and daughter.

"This is great," said Michael McCoy. "My wife really loved Southern. She really did. That's all she ever talked about. It feels great."

After a group prayer, everyone walked from the front of the nursing building to the union and back.

Donna Britt, WAFB Ch. 9 news anchor, also joined the school of nursing in rememberance of McCoy.

The purpose of the walk was to raise money for breast cancer to donate to the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, and to the Kimberly Vincent McCoy Heart of Gold scholarship to give to a graduating senior to pay for the Nclex exam.

The scholarship wil be presented at the pinning ceremony Dec.10.
