Steps to Obtaining a Second Bachelor's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology

 Southern University and A&M College

 

 

If you are a graduate of Southern University and A&M College

1.     Apply for Readmission online and submit the $20 processing fee to either the cashier's office or to the Office of the Registrar (Money order or Cashier's Receipt ONLY)

2.     Check email for confirmation that the application has been processed.

3.     Be advised by the graduate program advisor - departmental approval required

4.     Register for Classes

5.     Pay tuition/fees

 

If you are a graduate of another University:

1.     Apply online as a 'Transfer' Student

2.     Submit the $20 processing fee to either the cashier's office or to the Office of the Registrar (Money order or Cashier's Receipt ONLY)

3.     Submit copies of Official Transcripts from all post secondary schools attended.

4.     Submit 'Immunization Records'

5.     Submit 'Transfer Reference Sheet'

6.     Await confirmation that the application has been processed.

7.     Be advised by the graduate program advisor - departmental approval required.

8.     Register for classes

9.     Pay tuition/fees

Note:  In addition to the above SPAU courses, ASHA requires 12 credit hours in biological sciences, physical sciences, statistics, and behavioral/social sciences.  All courses must be at the college level.  Remedial courses are not accepted.  A grade of "C" or better is required in each of these areas.

NOTE:  Any level of admission to the graduate program requires a bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology which must be completed by the date of projected enrollment.  If an applicant holds a bachelor's degree in a discipline other than speech-language pathology, the applicant is required to complete a second bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology prior to admission to the graduate program.  Students who anticipate applying for admission to the graduate program following completion of the second degree in speech-language pathology must meet the same GPA requirements as all other applicants (see above).  Completion of the second bachelor's degree does not guarantee admission to the graduate program.  Students who are considering the second degree in speech-language pathology are advised to consult with the graduate program director prior to enrolling in courses for this degree.

 

Formerly referred to as the "undergraduate prerequisite program" for applicants without the SLP bachelor's degree, this program has been re-organized into a second bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology.
