Dean's Message

The School of Architecture offers a five year undergraduate program of study that leads to a fully accredited bachelor of architecture degree.  Architecture is one of several professional degree programs of study at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  The School of Architecture exists to serve the citizens of the state of Louisiana while welcoming student from all over the world.

Students come to the School of Architecture from states that reflect the length and breadth of the forty eight contiguous states, US Territories and foreign countries as well.  As a part of the only Historically Black College and University (HBCU) system in the country, the School welcomes a diverse group of young people who aspire to contribute to the communities where they may reside, through the practice of architecture, or in one of the allied professions.

One of our goals is to assist underserved populations in urban and rural communities in the state.  To accomplish this goal the School operates the Urban+Rural Community Design Research Center (U+R CDRC), which with its professional partners is touching lives and assisting in bringing hope to communities.

Graduates of the School earn graduate and doctoral degrees, become licensed practicing professional architects, or contributing to the profession, allied professions and the country, and the global community.

Thank you for considering Southern University at Baton Rouge, Louisiana and a special thanks for considering the School of Architecture.
