Campus Tours at Southern University
Tours are given
- Spring Tours: (February - May), Monday - Thursday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Friday at 10 a.m. ONLY.
- Summer Tours: (June and July), Monday - Friday at 10 a.m.
- Fall Tours: (September - November), Monday - Thursday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Friday at 10 a.m. ONLY.
*Campus tours and visitations exclude ALL semester breaks, holidays, & Southern University and A & M College closures.
How to schedule a Campus Tour
- E-mail your tour request to subrtours@subr.edu.
- Call the Office of the Admissions at 225.771.2430 to schedule your tour by phone.
*Please be sure to include: at least two (2) suggested dates, an official contact person, phone number(s), an e-mail address, a fax number, & where you would like your tour confirmation sent.
Policies and Procedures for Campus Tours
In an effort to ensure that all campus tours run smoothly and efficiently, please review/adhere to the following:
- Campus tours and visitations exclude ALL semester breaks, holidays, & Southern University and A & M College closures.
- All Campus Tour requests must be submitted and confirmed at least two weeks (10 business days) prior to the intended date of visitation, as space is limited. THE OFFICE OF THE OMBUDS MUST CONFIRM ALL CAMPUS TOURS.
- If a 10 a.m. campus tour arrives more than 15 minutes after the scheduled time, an effort will be made to reschedule the campus tour for 2 p.m. However, we cannot guarantee a complete campus tour of Southern University and A & M College will be conducted.
- If a 2 p.m. campus tour arrives more than 15 minutes after the scheduled time, we cannot guarantee a complete tour of Southern University and A & M College will be conducted.
- Southern University Student Orientation Leaders & Ambassadors (S.O.L.A.s) will conduct riding or walking tours of the campus.
- Please be sure to include: at least two (2) suggested dates, an official contact person, phone number(s), an e-mail address, a fax number, & where you would like your Campus Tour confirmation sent.

Campus Tours FAQ
1. When are the campus tours?
- Spring Tours: (February - May), Monday & Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Friday at 10 a.m.
- Summer Tours: (June and July), Monday - Friday at 1 p.m. ONLY.
- Fall Tours: (September - November), Monday & Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. and on Friday at 10 a.m. ONLY.

2. How long do the campus tours last? Walking tours last anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour; riding tours typically last 30 minutes or so.
3. Do we have to make an appointment for the campus tour?
Yes. Campus tours are conducted by appointment ONLY. No exceptions!
4. Can we get directions to the campus?
Yes, if you call in advance so that it can be faxed/mailed to you or click here
5. Can you give me a general run-down of what the campus tour includes, or what we will see?
Normally, a campus tour includes, but is not limited to, academic buildings, John B. Cade Library, A.A. Lenoir Law Center, residence halls/dorms, the home of our former live mascot, LaCumba, and the beautiful Bluff overlooking the Mississippi River.
6. Will we get to see a residence hall/dorm?
The campus tour does not include viewing a dorm room. We will be glad to direct you to the Department of Residential Life who may be able to honor your request, at the conclusion of your tour.
7. Will I be able to meet with a representative from a department or a coach?
We will not be able to arrange a meeting of this nature, however, we will be glad to direct you to the appropriate areas at the conclusion of your tour.
