Brief Description:. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to outline priority areas for research related to women’s mental health during pregnancy and the postpartum period. Priority areas include basic and clinical neuroscience, studies of clinical course, epidemiological factors and risk factors, as well as interventions and services research. The NIMH, NICHD, and NIDA are committed to supporting research that will increase scientific understanding of and treatments for mental disorders experienced by women during and following pregnancy. Reduction of the public health burden of mental disorders during this prenatal period will improve the health and well-being of new mothers, their children and families.

Title: Early Childhood Mini-Grants Program
Brief Description: The sponsor provides grants aimed to stimulate new ideas and innovation among those working with very young children and their families. These grants help organizations improve social and emotional development in children, ages birth to six years, by providing money to: seed new programs; strengthen leadership and expand training in the early childhood field; engage parents and increase their ability to be the primary educators for their children's development; raise public awareness--support policy analysis and advocacy in the field; and fund the purchase of needed materials, equipment, technology, and furnishings. Only tax-exempt organizations providing services in Orleans Parish are eligible.
Proposed Funding: Mini-grants ranging from $500 to $10,000 are awarded for one year, and may be renewed for an additional year if outcomes are met. Purchasing of needed materials, equipment, technology, and furnishings will be funded up to $1,000.

Brief Description: The sponsor will provide awards of up to $30,000 for one year for scholarly research in the life sciences. The sponsor emphasizes the support of young scientists at the beginning of their careers and productive senior scientists who wish to move into new fields of interest. Consideration is given, however, to applicants of all ages.
Proposed Funding: $200,000 per year (including both direct and indirect expense but excluding the Principal Investigator's salary).
Agency Deadlines: January 15, April 15, and October 1 deadlines refer to mandatory letters of intent. The corresponding deadlines for invited applications are June 1, September 1, and February 15.
