Orientation is designed to be the first step in your transition to begin your Collegiate Career, as a Southern University Student. Our goal is to build your personal academic success, produce competent intellectuals through growth and positive experience. This is a mandatory program for all first time freshmen and first semester transfer students to participate.
Orientation activities are to ensure that each student feels at home, understands The Student Code of Conduct, receives a Class Schedule, reviews the Academic Policies, and knowledgeable of support services.
Welcome Week is a program for all first time freshmen and first time university transfer students held the week prior to school beginning for Fall and Spring semesters. As a new student, you are about to board a train of unlimited possibilities and experiences.
Welcome Week is geared to help you maneuver around campus, make friends, jump start the new school year and officially become a part of our Jaguar Family.
A goal of Welcome Week is to ensure that first time freshmen and first time university transfer students are prepared for the first day of class, familiarized with the policies and procedures of the University, knowledgeable of Student Programs, support services and resources available. This program will lay the foundation for the semester.
