Bernette J. Johnson, the first African-American Chief Justice of the Louisiana Supreme Court, will be the commencement speaker at Southern University’s graduation ceremonies.

The Southern University Football Alumni Association (SUFAA) presented the Jaguar football team with workout shirts on May 2 during a team meeting.

Southern University students nominated and voted Drs. Jarrett Landor-Ngemi and Chanika Jones as their favorite teachers. Landor-Ngemi is an assistant professor in the College of Education and Jones is an Associate Professor in Criminal Justice. Landor-Ngemi has been in the College of Education since 2009, while Jones came to the Criminal Justice in 2008.

Baseball Hall of Famer and Southern University alum Lou Brock spoke today at the Pennington Biomedical Research Center as part of its “Louisiana Diabetes Summit: Meeting Our Challenge.”
