Full-Time Fathers

Full-time Fathers

In Louisiana, the percentage of children living in a single-mother household and below poverty is 57.11. Studies have shown that children with involved, loving fathers are significantly more likely to do well in school, have healthy self-esteem, exhibit empathy and pro-social behavior compared to children who have uninvolved fathers 2. The Southern University Full Time Fathers Program wants to help more fathers become involved in their children's lives.

The mission of the Full Time Fathers Program is to improve father's relationships with their children by assisting them in overcoming obstacles and barriers to being effective nurturing parents. In keeping with this mission, the program offers free fatherhood sessions, job training and job placement assistance to non-custodial fathers.
