Southern University would like to welcome all family and friends to its Fall Commencement Ceremony.
Arrangements for Hearing Impaired/Guests with Disabilities
SUBR will provide interpreter service for the ceremony. To assist us in providing arrangements for guests with special needs, guests should arrive early. There will be designated parking and entrance in the area facing South-Harding Blvd. of the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Individuals must provide personal equipment for mobility (i.e. wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, etc.). One (1) family member may accompany the individual in a designated Disabled Seating area. Persons with Limited Mobility
Persons with limited mobility should enter the F.G. Clark Activity Center parking lot by way of Harding Boulevard or Swan Avenue.
Signs reading “Handicapped Parking” and parking personnel will be present to direct vehicles will limited mobility guests to the elevator entrance of the Activity Center located on the Harding Boulevard side where they can be dropped off. The vehicle can then park in the Activity Center parking lot.
Below is a list of items that will not be allowed at the F.G. Clark Activity Center during the commencement ceremony:
- Alcoholic beverages
- Aerosol and spray cans
- Animals (except service animals for persons with a disability)
- Apparel or signage displaying profane or abusive language
- Flags and flagpoles
- Illegal and enlisted drugs
- Inflatable products
- Noisemakers (including confetti poppers)
- Projectiles (including frisbees, balloons and beach balls)
Weapons of any kind (including knives, box cutters, guns, etc.)
Traffic and Parking
All persons planning on attending Southern University’s Spring 2019 Commencement services are encouraged to come early for the program which begins at 10:00 a.m. The Harding Boulevard, Swan Avenue and Mills Avenue entrances will all be open. However, due to road repairs, a portion of B.A. Little Drive is closed and traffic will be detoured.
It is asked that guests enter campus on Harding Blvd., Mills Ave., and Swan St. A drop-off point for those who are mobility impaired has been designated at the elevator entrance on the south side (Harding Boulevard side) of the Activity Center.
Once the Activity Center parking lot is full, vehicles will be directed to the Mumford Stadium parking lot and parking along Isabel Herson Street and Jesse Stone Avenue.
