Do faculty, staff, and students need a parking permit to park on campus?

Yes, a parking permit is required at all times while parked on campus.  During the zone parking hours of 7AM to 5PM Monday - Friday, you must park in your designated parking area.

 

Do visitors and contractors need to have a parking permit?

Yes, visitors and contractors are also required to have a parking permit. A permit is not required if parked in a paid meter space.

 

Where do I go to purchase a parking permit?

The Traffic and Parking Office located in the William L. Pass Police Station on the corner of Robert Smith Dr. and B. A. Little Drive.

 

Can I pay my parking ticket at the Traffic and Parking Office?

Yes, the only accepted payment methods are by debit/credit card or money order.

 

Why are there parking meters on campus?

In an effort to make parking more available and convenient for our campus community and visitors, several parking meters have been installed in select locations across campus. This move is also in line with best customer service practices with other institutions across the country.

 

Were any student, faculty, staff or reserved parking spaces taken?

No designated student or reserved parking spaces were absorbed in the metered parking areas. In fact, several spaces were added. However, there were a few faculty/staff spaces absorbed.

 

How much do the meters cost?

The hourly meters start at $1.50 per hour ($12 maximum) and are ideal for meetings and other short-term parking.

 

How do I pay at the meters?

The hourly meters accept credit and debit cards only.

 

Where are the meters?

Multi-space pay stations
Smith-Brown Memorial Union (12 spaces);
University Bookstore (6 spaces);
TT Allain west side (10 spaces)

With the multi-space pay stations, the paid meter receipt must be displayed unobstructed on the dashboard of the vehicle.

Where does the money for the meters go?

Revenue from the meters go toward university traffic and parking initiatives.

 

Are parking permits still required?

Yes, the regular parking permits purchased each academic semester/year by students, faculty, staff and administrators are still required to park in those designated areas of campus. The parking meters may be used by anyone, including those with permits.

 

Are parking permits required for the metered spaces?

No, parking permits are not required to park in the metered spaces.

 

What happens when I park in a metered space without paying for it?

Parking in a metered space without payment is a cause for your vehicle to be ticketed, immobilized and/or towed at driver’s/owner’s expense. 

 

Can I use metered parking for football games?

No, the meters will not be in operation on the weekends.

 

Is all guest parking now metered?

No, there are still open spots across campus.
