Artist Statement
I illustrate the beauty of a multi-ethnic world. Working predominantly on brown paper, I use different tints and shades of the brown colored paper in order to show the diversity of skin tones in the African American community. I also use ink and color wax pencils, and the pointillism style of drawing, to invoke a sense of pride in being different in a society that promotes conformity. Having a multi-ethnic background myself, my artwork puts a spot light on the mingling of Whites, Blacks, Hispanic, Indian, and Asian ethnic groups. I show the beauty that is created by the mixing of the races.
