1. What is Blackboard?
Blackboard is a course Web site creation service that enables instructors to add an online component to traditional classes or teach an entire course on the Web. Blackboard provides one of the world’s most popular and effective platforms for teaching and learning via the Internet and powers the online learning environments at some of the nation’s most prestigious colleges and universities.

2. What is my Blackboard User Name?
Your Blackboard User name is your firstname_lastname_00.

3. What is my Blackboard Password?
Your Blackboard Password is the last four digits of your social security number.

4. What is the URL for Southern University’s Blackboard Website?
It is: www.blackboard.subr.edu

5. How do I enroll in a class on Blackboard?
a) Go to: www.blackboard.subr.edu
b) Click the “Login” button
c) Enter your username and password
Username: firstname_lastname_00
Password: last four digits of your social security number
d) Click on the “Courses” tab.
e) Click on semester currently enrolled
f) Search for your desired course
g) Click the “Enroll” button.
h) Blackboard will automatically give you several messages that confirm your
enrollment.

6. What is NETg?
NETg is a on-line comprehensive training program that offers a complete range of quality technology-based courses utilizing interactive simulations to assure a rewarding and effective learning experience. Each NETg course is packed with content, typically seven to eight hours, comparable to the material covered in a full day of classroom-based training. Technology and Network Services (TNS) at Southern University has arranged with the National Education Training Group Inc. (NETg) to make available their entire catalog of Online training courses for our Faculty, Staff and Students.

7. How do I access NETg at Southern University?
NETg is web based and can be accessed and used from any computer connected to the Internet.
The SUBR NETg URL is: http://netg.subr.edu

Once on the main page, Click on the Login to NETg Link on the main page.
Enter your Account Name (user id) and Password on the Login Page then Click the Login Button.

8. How do I get a NETg Account?
If you are a student currently enrolled at SUBR or a staff, faculty or administrator at SUBR simply
call the Office of Technology and Network Services and an account will be created for you
within 24 hours of your request. You can also email, netg@subr.edu, and request that an account
be created (Please include your full name and a contact number).

The account name (user id) for students will be your firstname_lastname_00; If you are a
faculty member your user i.d. will be your firstname_lastname. Your password will be your first
name and the number “1” (firstname1). You are encouraged to change this default
password.

9. Can students check out materials from the lending library?
No, Not at this time. Only SU faculty, staff, and administrators can check-out equipment from the
lending library.

10. If I have a problem in one of the multi-purpose computer labs, who should I contact?
Feel free to contact Ms. Sarah T. Spland, Training and User Support Services Coordinator, at 225.771.3935 or via email at sarah_spland@cxs.subr.edu.

11. Is pre-registration for instructor-led training seminars mandatory?
Yes, pre-registration is mandatory.

12. Who needs my completed instructor-led training registration form to gurantee my registration in the class?
To gurantee registration, please fax your completed registration form to 225-771-2883 (Attention: Sarah Spland or Melanie P. Rey). You can also email your forms to: training@subr.edu, sarah_spland@cxs.subr.edu or melanie_rey@cxs.subr.edu. You will receive a confirmation e-mail. You may also call-in your course selections (225-771-3935; Ask for Sarah Spland or Melanie P. Rey).

13. Where will the instructor-led training classes be held?
All classes will be held in Room 140, J.B. Moore Hall unless notified otherwise.
