Electrical Engineering Welcome

Chair's Welcome

Electrical Engineering Department Video Tour

I warmly welcome you to the website of the Electrical Engineering (EE) Department at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

Since the inception in 1956, the Electrical Engineering Department has prospered by the synergism of dedicated faculty, ambitious students, and other stakeholders such as alumni and industrial partners. From the start, we have challenged ourselves to combine our great traditions of friendliness and a feel-at-home environment with exciting new emerging technologies.  This allows our students to complete the program in a timely manner and it adequately prepares them for their next phase in life (graduate school or the workforce).

As you go through the pages of this website, you should see additional information about faculty members who are forging traditional excellence and modern high-tech education. Electrical engineering is a dynamic branch of the engineering profession involved in the design of devices that create and control electrical and photonic energy. Increasingly, electrical engineers are also being called upon to design 'smart' devices or systems by incorporating programmable devices to perform specific functions.

Hopefully this brief description and the video tour helped you get aquainted with the Electrical Engineering Department.  If you need additional information, please don't hesitate to contact me using the information below.
