Welcome to the College of Nursing and Allied Health (CNAH). Among its units are the School of Nursing, Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Studies, Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies, and the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program.
The School of Nursing was established in 1986 and is one of the top producers of undergraduate and graduate degrees awarded in nursing to African Americans in the U.S. The Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology is one of the first programs offered at a Historically Black College and University whose mission is to prepare students from diverse backgrounds to become licensed, certified speech/language pathologists. The Department of Rehabilitation and Disability Studies is structured to prepare students for effective and efficient rehabilitation services and counseling to persons with varying disabilities, while addressing multicultural issues. The Department of Therapeutic Recreation and Leisure Studies has produced many recreational therapists since the 1970's who use recreation and other activities as treatment interventions to improve the functional living competence of persons with mental, emotional, and/or social disabilities. The Clinical Mental Health Counseling Program trains competent, culturally aware, ethically prospective counselors who will provide exceptional mental health services in both public and private settings to meet the needs of increasingly diverse communities.
