Computer Science Scholarship Program

 

The Computer Science Scholarship program represents a truly meaningful contribution to the future.  The program was established by the Department of Computer Science with the assistance of business and industry.  Due to budget constraints, a limited number of scholarships are awarded each year.

This Scholarship requires the student to be enrolled as a full-time student in Computer Science and maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 in each academic year/semester. Students will also be engaged in a scholarly (or technically challenging) activity under the supervision of a Computer Science faculty member. Any withdrawal from computer science courses or failure to maintain full-time status during the semester will constitute an automatic loss of scholarship.  Scholar must follow specified plan of study as outlined in the University Catalog/Department Balance Sheet.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS:

  • Major in Computer Science
  • Have a high school average of 3.0 or higher
  • Have an ACT score of 24 or higher for incoming Freshmen

 

In addition, applicants should submit three (3) letters of recommendation and a transcript to:  Scholarship Committee, Department of Computer Science, Southern University, P.O. Box 9221, Baton Rouge, LA  70813.  Application Deadline(s):  April 15 (Fall Semester); August 15 (Spring Semester)

To submit your application electronically, please fill out the scholarship application online, save the filled out application to your computer, then email it to shuju_bai@subr.edu. When you email the application, make sure you put "Scholarship Application" in the subject line.
