Mission Statement

The mission of the Center for Student Support Services (CSSS) is to provide students with the support that will strengthen their academic performance and promote student success and retention. Our services encompass learning assistance, academic excellence and college transition programs. We offer free academic support, such as tutoring and a Seminar Series on Academic Success, to Southern University students. Additionally, we have programs and activities for students who experience academic difficulties, as well as those who are already succeeding academically, but simply want to enrich their educational experiences at the University. We also help students become aware of the University's resources (academic, financial, counseling, career services, etc.) and how to use them to meet their individual needs.

The Center for Student Support Services was established with a federal grant through Title III for the development of programs at historically black colleges and universities.
