Season books for the upcoming 2012 football season will be available for renewal for existing season book holders on Monday, June 11 at 9 a.m. in the Southern University Ticket Office located in the F.G. Clark Activity Center.

Fans who are not current season book holders but are interested in purchasing season books will be allowed to buy them during the renewal period.

Southern is offering discounted group rates for general admission seating in the north endzone. Fans who purchase five or more of the four-ticket books at $45 per book will receive each ticket for as low as $11 each per game.

"We want to continue to maximize value for all segments of the Jaguar Nation and especially target groups who will use the home football schedule for large group outings, such as youth groups, churches, youth programs, or local social clubs, SU alumni chapters and the like who want to plan gatherings," said Will Broussard, director of athletics.

In conjunction with the new discounted group rates, Southern is introducing a new referral program where season book holders who refer five or more people who purchase new season books by August 10 will receive four tickets to the season opener. Their names will also be entered into a drawing to be receive two suite passes for one of the Jaguars four home games.

"The tailgating atmosphere and discounted tickets, we hope, will spur renewed interest from fans and new interest from others looking to celebrate their love for Southern Football in a challenging economic climate."

Prices for 2012 season books range from $60 for north endzone seating to $152 for east box stadium seating. Single game tickets will not be available until the week of the first game and can be purchased online at Ticketmaster.com or by phone at 1-800-488-5252 when they become available.

Southern opens the 2012 season on the road at Football Bowl Subdivision member New Mexico in Albuquerque on Sept. 1 before hosting Mississippi Valley in the home opener Sept 13 in Baton Rouge.

After three consecutive weeks on the road following the Sept. 13 opener, Mitchell and the Jaguars will hunker down for a two-game home stand, hosting Texas Southern for homecoming on Oct. 13 and Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Oct. 20.

Southern will host Alabama State for the home finale on Nov. 10 before preparing for the annual State Farm Bayou Classic against Grambling on Nov. 24.

"By having strong home support, it helps us to become a more self-sufficient football program, which is what we need to do," said head coach Stump Mitchell. The only way we can get that done is by implementing some of the initiatives our athletic director, Dr. William Broussard, is recommending."
