Southern University Tennis Team recognized by NCAA

Southern University Tennis Team is among six SWAC teams being recognized by the NCAA for team APR success. The NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards announced Thursday, honors those SWAC programs on the list.

Coach Jeff Conyers says this is the first time receiving this honor. "I'm happy the girls put hard work in the classrooms and on the court," said Conyers. He hopes future Lady Jaguars aim for the same goal.

The list consists of the nation's top APR teams in each of the NCAA's sponsored sports. To make this year's list, an individual team must finish in the top 10 percent of all schools in that sport in APR score for the 2010-11 season.

The other SWAC teams include:

·         Texas Southern men's cross country

·         Alabama A&M men's tennis

·         Jackson State women's cross country

·         Jackson State women's golf

·         Jackson State women's tennis
