ExxonMobil Corporation officials presented a check for $89,550 to Southern University and A&M College on Friday during a ceremony on the Baton Rouge campus

Other ExxonMobil employees participating in the check presentation were David Dartez, HR Service Manager, Wilbert Ferdinand, Risk Management Advisor, and Claudette B. Southern and ExxonMobil have a long partnership which includes the company’s sponsorship and contributions to the annual Bernard Harris Summer Camp and the Engineering Summer Institute on the SUBR campus. ExxonMobil provides internships for Southern students and has hired a large number of SU graduates.

“ExxonMobil continues to be an integral part of the success of our campus. Through the years they have provided financial contributions and equipment that have helped our students and faculty in every phase of campus life,” said Chancellor Llorens said. “The company’s generosity has helped our students remain competitive on a global scale.”

“With a shared goal to provide career opportunities for our youth, we are committed to providing annual support to Southern university," said ExxonMobil’s Julius Bedford. "In the past three years, this matching gift grant has doubled as a testament to our strong partnership with the university and a pledge to future funding.”

ExxonMobil’s financial and in-kind contributions have provided extraordinary benefits for SU students in engineering and other science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) fields.
