Dr. Wesley Gray, professor of Chemistry and the Walter Dumas Endowed Professor of Environmental Toxicology, is the president-elect of the South Central Chapter of the Society of Toxicology (SOT) for 2013-2014.

SOT is a professional and scholarly organization of scientists from academic institutions, government, and industry representing the great variety of scientists who practice toxicology in the U.S. and abroad.

The South Central Chapter provides a forum for collaboration and scientific exchange between SOT members and toxicologists working in the five-state region of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Oklahoma and western Tennessee.  Dr. Gray has been a member of SOT since 2004 and has held several leadership positions before being elected president of the South Central Chapter.

He has served on the group's Education Subcommittee, South Central's Leadership team as vice-president, and a member of Toxicologists of African Origin interest group.  Over the past several years, Dr. Gray and his students have presented their research at both regional and national SOT meetings.
