SU Lab earns accreditation for five more years

The Southern University Laboratory School has been awarded reaffirmation, or continued accreditation, for five years from the Southern Association for Colleges and Schools.

SACS is one of the six regional accreditation organizations recognized by the United States Department of Education and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. The agency accredits over 13,000 public and private educational institutions ranging from pre-school to college level in the Southern United States.

Dr. Ronnie Harrison, Director of the Lab School, congratulated his staff, faculty, students and parents for their efforts to improve the school.

He also said prior months of work by the staff, alumni and stakeholders is improving the enrollment at the pre-k through high school.

The rising enrollment, coupled with the SACS accreditation, is proof that the Lab School is taking some positive steps forward, Harrison said, “and it also proves that this school is using effective practices in the delivery of education to our students.”
