Southern's Will Broussard among elite list of athletic directors invited to Paradigm Sports Final Four Career Seminar
Southern University athletic director Dr. William Broussard has been invited to be a participant and panelist for the 2013 Paradigm Sports Final Four Career Seminar and Athletic Director Session and Reception. The event is Friday, April 5, at the Westin Hotel in conjunction with the 2013 Men's Final Four in Atlanta.
The seminar features 36 out of the 331 NCAA Division I athletic directors, and the group represents 21 Division I conferences, including the SEC, Big East, ACC, PAC-12, Big Ten and Big 12. Over 100 head and assistant basketball coaches from around the country will also participate in the event, representing a wide spectrum of institutions. The seminar begins at 7:30 a.m. for the coaches and continues until 10 a.m. at which point there is a brief intermission before the Athletic Director sessions. Broussard is the only athletic director from an historically black college/university, the second youngest, and one of only 5 African-American athletic directors serving on the panel.
Each athletic director will hold a small-group roundtable, rotating coaches in every 45 minutes. The coaches will have vital opportunities to obtain information about careers, networking, interviewing, and the timing of informing head coaches and ADs about interviews.
"I'm thrilled about the opportunity to spend time, exchange ideas, and learn more about the industry from such a stellar group of athletic directors," offered Broussard, who is celebrating his one-year anniversary as Southern's athletic director. "Given our recent performance in the NCAA Tournament versus Gonzaga, I'm sure this will continue to help elevate Southern's emerging profile as an HBCU and mid-major basketball program."
Southern finished 23-10 in 2012-13, highlighted by a victory over SEC foe Texas A&M, a SWAC Tournament championship and NCAA Tournament berth, and a narrow loss against 1-seeded Gonzaga, 64-58.
