Who We Are

What is IDA?

THE VISION

  • IDAs are Individual Development SAVINGS Accounts (IDAs)
    Home Ownership
  • IDAs have become a tool that enables low-income and low-wealth American families to save, build assets, and enter the financial mainstream. Based on the idea that all Americans should have access to the structures that promote homeownership, increase educational attainment, and start a new business enterprise.
  • IDAs encourage efforts among the limited resource individuals and families by offering matches for their own deposits.
  • IDAs are not “handouts” but “helping hands” that reward the monthly savings of eligible working families who are trying to attain one of the assets.

THE BELIEF

  • IDAs are based on the belief that asset building is the key to gaining economic self-sufficiency.
