Summer 2021 Quality Matters Training
As a Quality Matters member institution, Southern University is committed to continuous improvement through persistent faculty development and quality assurance initiatives. In Summer 2021, faculty will be able to register for one of three Quality Matters workshops: Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR), Designing Your Online Course (DYOC), and Improving Your Online Course (IYOC). Sessions will be offered as either 2-day live workshops or 2-week online workshops. Workshop descriptions, availability, and registration links follow.
Applying the Quality Matters Rubric (APPQMR)
In this workshop, participants will "learn the underlying principles behind the QM Rubric and the critical elements of the QM quality assurance process. QM's flagship workshop on the QM Rubric and its use in reviewing the design of online and blended courses is intended for a broad audience...It is particularly helpful to those new to QM or those considering the adoption of a quality assurance process for online and blended learning." This course is required for faculty teaching courses for SU Online and recommended for all faculty teaching hybrid or online courses. APPQMR will be facilitated online July 12 - 23.
Designing Your Online Course (DYOC)
DYOC "includes an overview of the QM Rubric and provides a framework for participants to design an online course plan." Participants in this workshop complete a course development plan that will help them design a QM-compliant course. This workshop is recommended for faculty who are new to online teaching. DYOC will be facilitated online July 26 - August 6.
Improving Your Online Course (IYOC)
IYOC "explores the QM Rubric and provides a framework to improve the quality of online courses." In this workshop, participants review their existing online courses using the QM Rubric and develop an improvement plan. To enroll in this workshop, participants must have a pre-developed online course; it is not recommended for faculty who are new to online teaching. IYOC will be facilitated live August 5 - 6.
