SU Housing represented at international conference

A Southern University delegation got a front row seat on new techniques and best practices in the management of student housing at the recent annual meeting of the Association of Colleges and University Housing Officers - International (ACUHO-I).

Shandon P. Neal, Director of Residence Life and Housing and Evan Alexander, Hall Director, served as delegates and participated in a series of sessions and workshops on the development and sustainability of student housing.

ACUHO-I, the chief professional organization for student housing, held its annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif. Conference participants shared in research methods, applications and experiential learning outcomes from colleges and universities around the globe.

"This conference granted us a wealth of ideas and opportunities to implement enhancements to the residential experience that a student gains during their matriculation here at SU," Neal said. "We've learned that while we might not have all of the financial resources we would like, there are practices and actions that we will be training our student and professional staff on in hopes of making a student's Southern living . . . easy."
