SU’s Small Business Center to hold non-profit startup workshop

The Louisiana Small Business Development Center at Southern University will hold a “Nonprofit Startups 101” workshop from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., Saturday, August 25 in College of Business, on the first floor of T.T. Allain Hall.

The seminar is open to the public, however early registration is required due to limited class size.

The workshop will provide information on how to transform ideas of starting a nonprofit into a viable, operational organization and to simplify the process. Those that complete the workshop will be equipped with the tools needed to form a non-profit organization.

Topics covered during the session will include: the steps for setting up a non-profit organization; the difference between a non-profit and for a profit organization; the six components of non-profit infrastructure; and how the 990 form needs to be completed and filed.

The LSBDC at Southern University Baton Rouge is a partnership program funded, in part, through a cooperative agreement with the U.S. Small Business Administration, Louisiana Economic Development and Southern.

To register call the Louisiana SBDC at 225-922-0998 or visit the LSBDC website, www.lsbdc.org. Reasonable accommodations for persons with disabilities and limited English proficiency will be made upon request at least two weeks in advance. Contact the LSBDC-SUBR at 225-922-0998.
