SU's Center for Service Learning donates turkeys to Clarksdale residents

Southern University’s Center for Service Learning joined today with SU’s interim Head Coach Dawson Odums and Quarterback Coach Chad Germany to donate Thanksgiving food baskets filled with turkeys and trimmings to the Clarksdale Public Housing facility in Scotlandville.

The Center for Service Learning works with the East Baton Rouge Parish Housing Authority around the holidays to provide food baskets to low-income families living in public housing.

This year, Albertsons stores on Airline Highway and Government Street donated turkeys, dinner rolls, peas, and yams to the Service Learning Center and Service Learning students who collected can goods.

“This will benefit the residents especially those with two or more kids. We are happy that Clarksdale was chosen for the food drive,” said Emma Page, a resident president of Clarksdale Council.  “Thank You.”
