SU’s Dr. Bobba has been selected for prestigious Fulbright Fellowship

 

Dr. Rambabu Bobba has been selected by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board to receive a prestigious Fulbright Fellowship to India.

The 2015-2016 Fulbright-Nehru Academic Excellence Fellowship will allow Dr. Bobba, who has been with SU for 30 years, to travel to develop a collaborative research program with Srivenkateswara University in Tirupati, India.

He will also explore the opportunity to promote online courses for credit between Southern and Srivenkateswara, and to enhance graduate student recruitment in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.

The Fulbright Program aims to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries, and it is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government, according to the Fulbright award notice.

Dr. Bobba, a professor of Physics and a native of Kavutaram, India, will join Fulbright alumni who include heads of state, judges, ambassadors, CEOs, scientists, university presidents, teachers and Nobel Prize winners.
