The 2013-2014 will be a critical for Southern University as the school goes through an organizational change while at simultaneously attempting to build enrollment and stave off financial challenges, Chancellor James L. Llorens said today.

The Southern University System will host its Statewide Town Hall Tour, "Transforming the Southern System: From Good to Great" starting in Baton Rouge on August 8 and ending in New Orleans on August 19.

Jasmine Batiste said she wanted Southern University to show her how to professionally care for young people. She never saw graduating at the top of her class in the mix.

The Southern University Laboratory School has taken another step in improving its technology-driven education delivery system.

Saying that Southern University “is excited about the opportunity to improve the academic future of students,” SU Chancellor James L. Llorens signed a partnership Monday with the Iberville Parish School System to start a College and Career Readiness program at White Castle High School.

Southern University students participated in the “Stuff the Bus” event coordinated by WBRZ Channel 2, Office Depot, Raisin’ Canes and Volunteers in Public Schools on Wednesday July 17.

Keith Tillage of Tillage Construction and Brian LaFleur of the BJL Group have come together to give back to the community that helped mold them.

Cmdr. Tremayne Criner, Southern University’s Naval ROTC new Acting Commanding Officer, will be the guest speaker at the Kiwanis Early Riser meeting Tuesday, July 23 at 6:30 a.m.
