Dr. Caroline Telles
Dr. Caroline M. Telles is an associate professor at Southern University and A & M College. In 2003, she received her Ph.D. in Microbiology from Louisiana State University. In the spring of 2008, Dr. Telles joined the Department of Biological Sciences where she teaches advanced undergraduate courses in pathogenic microbiology, microbial genetics, introductory microbiology courses for nursing students, as well as a graduate course in prokaryotic genetics. She is currently the coordinator of the microbiology core program and the Biology Louis Stokes Louisiana Alliance for Minority Participation program. Dr. Telles has received extramural and intramural funding to enhance the instructional infrastructure in the department. Her research focuses on the molecular genetics of the MYST-family histone acetyltransferases (HATs) in Saccharomyces cerevisiae” and “Natural Products and the Microbiome”. Dr. Telles has received several accolades including the American Society of Cell and Molecular Biology (MAC) Visiting Professorship Award, the National Human Genome Research Institute Genomics Award, and the American Society of Microbiology Faculty Enhancement Award. She is currently a member of the American Society of Microbiology (ASM), American Society of Cell and Molecular Biology (ASCB) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
