Undergraduate Accreditation

Transition from CORE to CAAHEP

Southern University Undergraduate program complies with the educational standards established and evaluated by the Commission on Undergraduate Standards and Accreditation by the Council on Rehabilitation Education Inc. (CORE) for bachelor’s-level programs in Undergraduate Rehabilitation Education. Further, the Commission has deemed this program able to maintain and enhance its level of compliance through the duration of the recognition. Current accreditation period is through summer 2020. With the merger of CORE and CACREP, in 2016, undergraduate programs will no longer be accredited by CORE and as such, Southern University is seeking accreditation from Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, (or CAAHEP). Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs, (or CAAHEP), is an agency of accreditation for the accredits postsecondary education programs in 28 health science fields. A not-for-profit organization, CAAHEP is recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
