Core Value - Academic Excellence

"Academic excellence" is a core value at  Southern University and A&M College.  It is:

"the provision of the highest quality educational and learning experiences made possible by academically and professionally qualified faculty and staff, opportunities for contextual learning, state-of-the-art facilities, safe and aesthetically pleasing surroundings, and resources necessary to support teaching and learning." 

In keeping with this core value, the Division of Academic Affairs, Southern University Online, and the Office of E-Learning will host annually the Institute for Faculty Talent Development.  This Institute is a commitment to the outstanding faculty at the University and students enrolled in Southern University Online to provide the highest quality educational experience and most innovative learning environments. 

Imagine 20K - Goal 2

The purpose of the Institute is to provide high quality and intensive training for faculty who teach online, in hybrid formats, and in the traditional classroom. By attending the Institute's trainings, faculty will be deeply engaged in studying and learning the tools of college teaching as an art form. The establishment of the Institute aligns with the Imagine 20K, Goal II, Objective II and Strategy II.1.4:

Create and sustain a culture that supports teaching excellence by providing faculty development opportunities, which enhance innovative instructional methods that increase classroom rigor and emphasize student success – retention, progression and completion.
