Notification of Direct Deposit Email Scam

This webpage is to inform you of a recent Direct Deposit email phishing incident involving our Self-Service Banner system at Southern University and A&M College. We became aware of this incident on April 23, 2019 and believe the incident occurred between April 12, 2019 and April 15, 2019. The incident involved a phishing email received on April 12, 2019 purporting to be a notice from Banner. The email was sent to several hundred employees on the Baton Rouge Campus and we are aware the direct deposit information for seven (7) employees was altered.

The Division of Information Technology (DoIT) has confirmed that the incident has been isolated and do not foresee any future threat or compromise of our data systems. If you believe you may have accessed the link in the email, you should contact the Division of Information Technology immediately at (225)-771-4357. If you did not access the email and still have it in your inbox or junk mail, you should delete it immediately.

As a precaution, it is recommended that you reset your Banner self-service pin periodically.
