Sociology Internship

Sociology Intership

Sociology Internship (SOCL 445) is designed to give selected majors in sociology or related disciplines, opportunities to apply classroom experiences in the real world. Students select social institutions or organizations such as, schools, churches, businesses, and political, correctional, mass media, to gain experiences. They must complete at least sixty (60) clock hours of internship. Students will receive either a Passing Grade (P) or a Failing Grade (F). Credit hours earned may be used to meet the sociology elective requirement.

Interns will be evaluated by their field supervisors and department coordinator at least two (2) times during the semester. At hte end of the intership period, the intern must provide the Sociology Department with a comprehensive written report on internship experiences according to a given format.

Attendance: Students must attend 3-4 mandatory scheduled sessions.

The faculty of the Department of Sociology encourages and strongly supports a program of professional internships for students preparing for careers in sociology and related disciplines with academic credit
