Grants
A grant is a form of financial aid awarded to students based primarily on financial need. Like scholarships, grants do not require repayment (unless outlined when requirements for the grant are not met) and are often funded by the federal government, state agencies, or educational institutions.
Louisiana Geaux Teach Grant
The Geaux Teach scholarship program was established to provide scholarships to students enrolled in teacher preparation programs or alternate certification programs approved by BESE.
The maximum annual award is $5,000. Awards apply only to tuition, required fees, and instructional materials, and are used after all other state or institutional aid is applied.
Eligibility Requirements
- United States citizen and Selective Service compliant (if required).
- Louisiana resident for at least two years prior to July 1 before enrollment.
- Minimum 2.50 cumulative GPA.
- Full‑time enrollment in an approved teacher preparation or alternate certification program.

TEACH Grant
The TEACH Grant Program provides up to $4,000 per year for students completing coursework toward a teaching career.
TEACH Grants require a service obligation. If not completed, the grant converts to a loan with interest.
Service Obligation
By signing the Agreement to Serve or Repay, you agree to:
- Teach full‑time for four years in a low‑income school.
- Teach in a high‑need field.
- Complete the service within eight years of leaving school.
Eligibility Requirements
- Meet federal student aid eligibility criteria.
- Complete the FAFSA.
- Attend a TEACH‑Grant‑participating school.
- Be enrolled in a TEACH‑eligible program.
- Meet academic requirements (75th percentile test score or GPA ≥ 3.25).
- Complete TEACH Grant counseling annually.
- Sign the Agreement to Serve or Repay.

Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program
The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program supports STEM majors and professionals preparing to become K–12 mathematics and science teachers in high‑need school districts.
