Undergraduate Minor

A full time student at Southern University may minor in Computer Science upon a successful completion of 21 hours in Computer Science as follows:

 

CMPS 190 Algorithm Design and Programming I 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 191 Algorithm Design and Programming II 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 200 or 271 Discrete Structures or Java Programming 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 201 Data Structures 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 300 Programming Languages 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 300-400 CMPS Free Elective 3 Credit Hours
CMPS 300-400 CMPS Free Elective  3 Credit Hours

Total: 21 Credit Hours

 

The Computer Science Free Electives may be chosen from any of the 300 or 400 level courses offered as long as the student meets the prerequisites of the course.  Thus, it may be required that a student take an additional class.

For Example:   CMPS 402     Computer Architecture requires CMPS 302 and CMPS 334 as prerequisites.
