Admissions for Beginning Freshmen from Louisiana

UNITS

Mathematics: Algebra 1A and Algebra 1B, Geometry, Algebra II, Financial Math, Math Essentials, Advanced Pre-Calculus, Advanced Functions & Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Probability and Statistics, Discrete Math, Approved Elective (including approved IBC related course)

Natural Science:Biology, Chemistry, two (2) units from: Physical Science, integrated Science, Physics I, Physics of Technology I, Aerospace Science, Biology II, Chemistry II, Earth Science, Environmental science, Physics II, Physics of Technology II, Agriscience II, Anatomy and Physiology,

And Require only one developmental course by having a minimum ACT English Score of 18 or Math Score of 19 (SAT Verbal score of 430 or SAT Math Score of 460). *New SAT Writing/Language score of 25 or SAT Math Score of 500.

And One of the following: core GPA of 2.0 or ACT Composite score of 20 (SAT Composite of 940). *New SAT total score of 1020.


Beginning Freshmen (Out-of-State or Home-Schooled)

Freshman students, who graduate from out-of-state schools or home schooled, must meet one of the following minimum admissions criteria:

Criteria 1

  • Completion of Louisiana Board of Regents' high school core curriculum;
  • Minimum ACT English score of 18 OR math score of 19 (SAT verbal score of 430 OR SAT math score of 460); *New SAT Writing/Language score of 25 or SAT Math Score of 500. 

 

         One of the following:

  • Minimum high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale OR
  • Core GPA of 2.0 or ACT composite score 0f 20 (SAT Composite of 940). *New SAT total score of 1020.  

 

Criteria 2

 

  • Minimum composite ACT score of 20 (SAT composite score of 940); new SAT score of 1020
  • Minimum ACT English score of 18 OR math score of 19 (SAT verbal score of 430 OR SAT math score of 460); *New SAT Writing/Language score of 25 or SAT Math Score of 500. 
  • Minimum high school GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale;

 

Criteria 3

 

  • Minimum ACT composite score of 23 (SAT composite score of 1060); *New SAT total score of 1130.  
  • Minimum ACT English score of 18 OR math score of 19 (SAT verbal score of 430 OR SAT math score of 460). *New SAT Writing/Language score of 25 or SAT Math Score of 500.  

Admissions for Students with GED

Students who have successfully completed the General Education Development (GED) program must have an ACT composite score of 23 or higher (SAT of 1060 or higher). *New SAT total score of 1130. 


Admissions for International Students

International students for whom English is a second language have two options to satisfy SUBR's English proficiency requirement. They may take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS).

 

  • A minimum score of 500 on the TOEFL or a score of 5 on the IELTS
  • High School GPA of 2.5 or better
  • Have a minimum ACT English score of 18 AND ACT math score of 19 (SAT critical verbal score of 430 AND SAT math score of 460). *New SAT Writing/Language score of 25 and SAT Math Score of 500.
