Out of State Fee Waiver

Jaguar Out-of-State Fee Waiver

Southern University and A&M College aims to fully pursue the University's mission by strongly supporting its efforts of providing a high quality global educational experience to its students.  A full out-of-state fee waiver will be granted to all qualified incoming freshman who graduated from a high school from any state in the USA or new Transfer student, who meets the following criteria:
 

Eligibility (effective Fall 2024)

  • Incoming Freshmen:
  • Satisfy the admissions requirements.
  • Have a 2.75 cumulative final high school grade point average or ACT score of 24 or SAT 1160-1190.
  • First-time, First-Semester students must have and maintain the following:
    - A minimum of (12) full-time credit hours each semester and
    -Maintain a 2.75 each semester (Institutional not Cumulative); to be evaluated at the end of the semester
  • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
  • Have not received the waiver more than eight (8) times previously.

New Transfer Students

  • Satisfy the admissions requirements.
  • Have a 2.75 cumulative final transfer grade point average.
  • Complete and submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Transfer students must have and maintain the following:
    - A minimum of (12) full-time credit hours each semester and
    -Maintain a 2.75 each semester (Institutional not Cumulative); to be evaluated at the end of the semester.
  • Have not received the waiver more than eight (8) times previously.

Eligibility – Incoming Freshmen & Transfer (effective 2021 – Spring 2024)

  • Have and maintain a minimum of (15) credit hours each semester or a minimum of 30 hours for the academic year (Fall and Spring).
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.50; to be evaluated at the end of the spring semester.
  • Have not received the waiver more than eight (8) times previously.

Notes

Fee waiver does not cover Summer session and can be retained for up to eight (8) semesters total. The Out-of-State Fee Waiver covers all qualified first-time freshmen and transfer students, effective Fall 2024.
