Southern University to launch new digital media arts bachelor’s program in fall 2025

Southern University and A&M College's College of Humanities and Interdisciplinary Studies has launched a new Bachelor of Arts program in digital media arts. The degree program will be available to students beginning in the fall 2025 semester.

The interdisciplinary program is a collaborative effort between the Department of Visual and Performing Arts and the Department of Mass Communication. It is designed to provide students with the creative and technical skills needed to thrive in today’s dynamic digital media industry.

“This new program presents an exciting opportunity for students to cultivate their creative and technical abilities within a cutting-edge field,” said Darrell Roberson, co-director of digital media arts. “We are confident that our graduates will be well-equipped to make significant contributions to the expanding digital media landscape.”

Approved by the Louisiana Board of Regents, the program includes five specialized areas of concentration: digital screen arts production, digital performance fusion, visual arts and motion graphics, digital sports production, and recording arts.

Students must meet with their academic advisor before registering for the program.
