Mission Statement
SUBR Centennial Celebration/Fundraising Effort
Mission Statement
Over the next year (2014), Southern University and A&M College at Baton Rouge (SUBR) will celebrate with gratitude and pride its 100th year located on Scott's Bluff. The University will plan and present several centennial events to celebrate this historic milestone. Guiding the planning and implementation of these events will be a Centennial Steering Committee and several sub-committees. Undergirding all of the Centennial events will be an ambitious fundraising effort that will solicit financial support from corporations, foundations, businesses, religious organizations, alumni, university retirees, former and current board members, former system presidents and chancellors, former student campus leaders and athletes, current faculty, staff and students, elected and appointed officials, community leaders, and the public in general. The funds generated will be credited to a scholarship fund to assist qualified SUBR students. The only exception will be those funds donated by corporate or individual sponsors who agree to serve as sponsors for a particular centennial event. Such donations will be used to cover all expenses associated with a designated event. Any funds remaining after all expenses are met will be credited to the student scholarship fund.
Although the official centennial celebration period will end October 2014, SUBR's aim is to make this fundraising initiative a sustained effort that goes beyond the period of the SUBR Centennial Celebration, so that continued financial support in the form of scholarships can be offered to qualified SUBR students.
