1st Regional Science and Engineering Conference Presented by NextGenC3
The NextGenC3 Composite C.R.E.S.T Center is hosting its first Regional Science and Engineering Conference April 4-5. Undergraduate and graduate students will be given the opportunity to network with peers and faculty in their field during the conference. The conference held in the PBS Pinchback Hall will bring students on all levels together. “They will be able to network and present their research to a multidisciplinary audience of their peers.” said Fareed Dawan, assistant director of NextGenC3 and administrator of the conference. Southern University and LSU students can still register to participate in the conference that begins April 4 at 6p.m. with a reception and keynote speaker Dr. Saundra McGuire, assistant vice chancellor for learning, teaching and retention and professor of department of chemistry at LSU. Representatives from Physics, Chemistry, Engineering, Nano-composites, Material Science, Smart Polymers, Energy Materials, Smart Polymers, Energy Materials, Nanotechnology, Multifunctional Composites, Self-healing Composites and Engineering Education will present research on their area of study Thursday, April 5 from 8a.m.-5p.m. NextGenC3, located on SU’s campus, is a multi-discipline center that conducts research in multi-functional composites, educates students and outreach activities. Students involved in the program range from K-12 to Ph.D. With the collaboration of LSU the center is able to assist the students, research associates and faculty members of the center to achieve their prominence in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education and research. The mission of the center is to increase the research and education activities at one of the largest HBCU graduating minority students in the fields of STEM. Travel and lodging grants are available.
