2013-2014 SGA President and Miss Southern

The 2013-2014 Student Government Association elections came to an end on Monday night and two friends took the SGA President and Miss Southern University positions.

Twenty-year-old Ayanna Spivey walked away with the title as the 2013-2014 Miss Southern. The junior Social Work major from Moreno Valley, Ca., is a graduate of Vista Del Lago High School.

“I am honored and very grateful to represent an institution like Southern University A&M College. Being a third generation Southernite, I would have never thought this would happen,” said Spivey.

Spivey’s mother, father and grandmother are all Southern alums.

Simone Bray, a 20-year-old junior, won the race for 2013-2014 Student Government Association President. The Baton Rouge native is a graduate of McKinley High School and is a Mass Communications major.

Bray said she was in disbelief that she won but felt that all her hard work had paid off. “It means I can finally give back to Southern University because the university have given me so much,” said Bray.
